Platinum package 23rd February 2007

I went out to Las Vegas in August 2006 to see Barry but when I got there I was told that Barry had to cancel due to his bad hip, I was devastated and thought I would never be able to get the chance to see Barry again. When I got back to England I made the sad puppy dog eyes and my husband relented and said that it was ok to go back next year to see Barry, I got straight on to the computer and re-booked for 23rd Feb 2007.

I had waited forever for this day and could not believe I was actually going to meet Barry.

When I got there I was so nervous I could not believe I was actually there, I sat by the Barry slot machines waiting for the others to turn up, one by one they started arriving and we got chatting, it was as though we knew each other for along time. I was the only one from England though!  We were given our VIP passes and then we were led back stage through to the green room which was lovely and cosy. We were offered champagne I am not normally a drinker but I really did need it, and then when Kirsten said that I would be going in first I had to drink another glass!!

My name was called and I was led outside into the corridor where I waited  by some steps then Kirsten came out of the room and said Barry is waiting for you, I gulped and went in. As I went inside I seemed to be floating, Barry came up to me and shook my hand he asked me my name and where I was from,  I told him my name is Asha and I have come over from England, I then said Barry please can I have a hug and he said sure so we hugged (I was already floating before, but now I'd died and gone to heaven!!!) we chatted and I told him that I queued for 7hours with my 8 year old daughter to see him for the signing of his "Greatest hits of the 60's album" in London, he laughed and said that deserved another hug, so obviously I could not refuse and the arms went out again and we hugged!! (remember I told you that I had died and gone to heaven earlier , well I think I went there and back again!!)  I told him all the things that I wanted to say and all the things I was dared to say and Barry really laughed I can still hear the laughter in my ears. We posed for the official photo and Barry signed my program.

I did not notice the other people in the room until it was time to go and Kirsten handed me the disposable camera, Barry thanked me for coming and for contributing to his charity and gave me another hug before saying goodbye. it was fantastic, Barry gave me all his attention when I was in the room and made me feel real special, he is a great man, so down to earth and so genuine.

When everybody had met Barry we were led back to the theatre to our front row seats, I could not believe that we had our names on the seats (talk about special!) Barry came out and looked as wonderful as ever, he smiled and gave us a wave. The show was fabulous, Barry took us through the decades and when he sang "What the world needs now" we all linked arms and sang along, it was such an appropriate song for all that's going on in the world today. When the show ended Barry turned to us blew us a kiss and waved.

I had the best time of my life, I made great new friends that I keep in touch with and some of us are planning to meet up again in 2008 in Las Vegas to see Barry again. All this was made possible by Barry and i'd like to thank you Barry from the bottom of my heart for making my dream come true, these beautiful memories will stay with me forever.

Look forward to seeing you again in 2008!

Asha Singh
